Testing and Live Mode
Use the Test environment before accepting real funds. Its single API key selects BTC/BCH Testnet and XMR Stagenet, regardless of each protocol's native network name.
Test mode
In test mode:
- Use the shared Test API key for BTC, BCH, and XMR.
- Use a BTC/BCH Testnet4 wallet or an XMR Stagenet wallet that matches the payment route.
- Send valueless test coins from a faucet or test wallet.
- Use a test webhook endpoint such as webhook.site, ngrok, Cloudflare Tunnel, or your staging server.
- Verify both
payment.detectedandpayment.confirmedhandling.
Test-network coins have no real market value. Test-network and mainnet addresses are not interchangeable.
Live mode
Before switching to mainnet:
- Use your mainnet API key.
- Use an asset-specific mainnet wallet configuration. XMR needs a primary address and private view key, never a spend key. The dashboard does not display the view key again after submission.
- Use a production webhook endpoint.
- Verify webhook signatures in production.
- Choose a confirmation threshold that matches your order value and risk policy.
- Keep test and mainnet orders separate in your own system.
- For XMR, configure and verify an independent Mainnet view-only wallet; Stagenet readiness alone is insufficient.
Test webhook checklist
Use the test webhook endpoint to check your server before creating a payment:
curl -X POST "$MANATEE_API_URL/v1/webhooks/test" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $MANATEE_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"webhook_url": "https://yourapp.example/webhooks/btc",
"asset": "btc"
}'
Set asset to btc, bch, or xmr; it defaults to BTC when omitted. The synthetic payload uses the authenticated API key's network. If this fails, fix webhook reachability and signature verification before testing a real transaction.
Create a test payment
For a full payment flow, follow the BTC quickstart, BCH quickstart, or XMR quickstart. The XMR guide covers wallet creation, its view-only boundary, subaddresses, restore height, exact piconero amounts, and the separate Mainnet setup.
- API key setup
- testnet wallet setup
- payment creation
- payment retrieval
- webhook receipt
- signature verification
- mainnet readiness checks
